About Me

Folkestone Artists Danny WIndsor

Welcome to That Folkestone Artist,

Aka Danny Windsor BA.

It's not that I'm looking for anonymity, it's more about the story the art has to say. It's not always my story, It's That Folkestone Artists story. Documenting moments in time in an ever changing local landscape. Metaphorically and physically.

The passing of time and inevitability of change only really becomes visible the more time you have seen.

As I have advanced in years, I see much more change. For good, for bad. The reassurance is in that change is inevitable and therefore possible. The direction of change is the questionable bit sometimes.

"When picturesque line meets time, place and parody."

Artist Bio

That Folkestone Artist

Artist Bio

That Folkestone Artist is a Kent-based Graphic Artist who graduated in Fine Art at the Surrey Institute of Art & Design in 2005.

His work originating in the messy paint studios of a fine art environments, focusing on line and intersections, and mapping of every day shapes. Painting large scale 6x4ft canvas of purely line using a number of processes.

Inspired my artists such as; Patrick Caulfield, Julian Opie, Sarah Morris and Michael Craig-Martin.

Upon returning to Folkestone, he worked with public arts organisations such as Strange Cargo, Folkestone Triennial, Folkestone Fringe and various galleries around the town. Also focusing his practice digitally, the process of creating lines and clarity, selling many limited edition prints.

'The Kent Series' collection that focused on bright colourful line drawings along the Kent coastline, sold in various outlets in the Town.

For locals, his works include the Giant Bourbon Biscuit, part of the Biscuit collective. (Folkestone Triennial Fringe 2009) that is still situated on the side of Eleto Chocolate Cafe in Folkestone today.

In 2009, 'Folkopoly' was born. At the time the town was undergoing huge conversations about it's future (our present) and depicts the town across the Monopoly board highlighting a moment in time when it was all up for grabs. Selling out all limited editions prints.

life, family, career...

A few years later I'm back with the purpose that has always been there. To show my work to others, to create for the sake of creation again. I'm older, wiser and have seen the town go through some changes over the years.

I'm still obsessed with line and how we can use it in a process based way as an artist. But also using art for the way it is intended.

To speak about the world in which it exists. Folkestone. Art isn't always pretty.
