Iconic Folkestone Posters: From the Harbour Arm to The Leas
For years, I’ve been creating retro, railway-inspired illustrations of Folkestone, from the windswept beauty of the Folkestone Harbour Arm to the sweeping vistas of The Leas. What started as a personal artistic journey has grown into something that connects me with hundreds of people who share a love for this unique seaside town.
From Hidden Artist to That Folkestone Artist
A few years ago, I set myself a challenge: to become more visible as an artist and to make my work more accessible. I’d always been more comfortable creating than showcasing. The traditional “art scene” in Folkestone never quite felt like home, so I carved my own path.
That’s when That Folkestone Artist was born.
The name gave me space to still be a painter, while also exploring the world of graphic design, particularly in creating a unique series of Folkestone posters that capture the spirit and landmarks of the town I call home.

Why Folkestone Posters?
When I did my first market stall, I knew I wouldn’t be turning up with paintings or my usual £100 giclée prints. As beautiful and as popular as they are, that wasn't going to be my approach. I thought back to ten years earlier, when I had graphic prints on sale in Guildhall Street and at the Folkestone Flea Fair. That’s when the idea hit me: a new series of limited edition posters of Folkestone, affordable, collectable, and beautifully designed. Each one limited in its edition.
My style inspired by old railway posters, vintage signage, and the town’s iconic views, from the Folkestone Harbour Arm to the cliffside walks and beaches. But they’d be printed using high-quality materials, wrapped in sustainable packaging, and displayed on a hand-built wooden market stall. Every detail mattered.

Making Folkestone Art for Everyone
I’ve always said I’d rather have ten great conversations and ten £12 poster sales than one £120 sale. My goal has never been exclusivity, it’s connection.
I’m inspired by artists who make art feel like it belongs to everyone. That’s why my Folkestone posters are not just decorative — they’re stories, memories, and moments from this vibrant town, wrapped up in design.
Since launching, I’ve sold over 150 posters to locals, visitors, and art lovers far beyond Folkestone. Every time one finds a new home, I’m reminded why I started: to create art that’s meaningful, accessible, and deeply connected to place.
